Volume 11: Port Battles During World War II ports played a very central role. For all the big logistic campaigns like the increase of troops, weapons, foods, etc. they needed ports as everything was shipped. Using the sea routes from France and Great britain the allies wanted to conquer German ports in the first place. Volume 12: Final Battles 1 Due to the succesful outcome of the Battle of Nations at Monte Cassino (Italy) in 1944 and of the Battle of the Bulge (east and northeast of Belgium/Luxembourg) in the autumn of the same year the allies were able to cross the Rhine and to occupy Cologne in 1945. Volume 13: Final Battles 2 Due to the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 the allies succeeded for the first time since the beginning of the Second World War to push the Germans back within the original frontiers of Germany. Shortly after the allied troops conquered Berlin whereupon Germany surrendered on May 7th, 1945. Volume 14: Victory After America had dropped the atomic bomb
